Serve With Us

We are all about serving others and bringing them to Jesus at Grace Outlet. On the second Sabbath of every month, we have a special focus on service. We call these weeks "Jeans Sabbath".

WHAT DOES "JEANS SABBATH" MEAN?
Jean's Sabbath doesn't really refer to the dress code (although you will most likely find folks dressed in jeans and a red Grace Outlet tshirt on these days). It mainly encourages us, as a church, to go out and get involved in the community after or before the worship service. We want you to come to church prepared to "get dirty" for Jesus by getting involved in ministry to our community. We believe that once you get involved and get a taste for serving people, church as you knew it will never be the same.

Types of service you can currently get involved in:
  • Opportunity House Breakfast* (Prepare and serve breakfast for the homeless.)
  • Olivet Boys and Girls Club (Spend time in a mentoring relationships with the kids for our community by doing crafts and playing games with them in the gym.)
  • Children's Home of Reading (Spend quality time with teen boys playing table games. Must be 21 years or older to participate.)
  • Mobile "Soup" Kitchen (Take the JESUS message on the road by going to Penn Square in downtown Reading and meet people by giving out free items (bottled water, snacks, hot chocolate, soup, etc.) that intitate conversation.)
  • Animal Rescue League (A great family option where families or individuals can walk dogs that have been caged all week on the many walking paths at the shelter.)

If you would like to get involved or have an idea for additional service opportunities we could get involved in, please email Kathleen Sutton, our Service Elder.

*Takes place at 7:00 am before our worship service.
